Hydrogen gets you moving
Opening of Holzmarktstrasse, Berlin // CEP hydrogen rally // Welcome ceremony in Hamburg
Hydrogen gets you moving! A hydrogen rally for journalists on 12 May from Berlin to Hamburg via Stolpe will bring this claim to life. Eleven CEP* hydrogen cars will link the infrastructure stations of Berlin, Stolpe and Hamburg. The launch of the rally highlights the opening of the latest CEP hydrogen fuelling station at Holzmarktstrasse, Berlin by our partners TOTAL, Statoil and Linde - an important milestone in the expansion of Germany’s hydrogen infrastructure. From Berlin to Hamburg, journalists can test hydrogen under everyday conditions for themselves. The driving dynamics, comfort and safety of hydrogen vehicles promise to make zero-emission mobility fun.
Key decision-makers from politics and the economy will attend the rally. The Norwegian Ambassador Sven Erik Svedman, Parliamentary State Secretary Dr. Andreas Scheuer and Secretary of State Mary Krautzberger will be at Holzmarktstrasse in Berlin when Dr. Klaus Bonhoff, Managing Director of the National Organization for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology (NOW) fires the starting gun for the rally at 11:00.
A good 300 km later Senator for Science and Research Dr. Herlind Gundelach will welcome the fleet in Hamburg, together with CEP partners HOCHBAHN, represented by Ulrich Sieg, CEO of Hamburger Hochbahn AG; Vattenfall represented by Dr. Rainer Schubach, general representative of Vattenfall Europe AG; and Peter Fröschle, Manager Strategic Energy Projects & Market Development, Daimler AG. This year Vattenfall starts construction on Europe's largest hydrogen fuelling station here in HafenCity – another milestone in the development of a hydrogen infrastructure.
Hydrogen gets you moving! The rally will present the hydrogen technology of different manufacturers at a glance - BMW, Daimler, Ford, GM/Opel, Toyota and Volkswagen. In Berlin, the rally vehicles will be escorted by a BVG (Berlin public transport operator) hydrogen bus and in Hamburg by two fuel cell buses from Hamburger Hochbahn.
