HOCHBAHN takes delivery of its first new fuel cell-hybrid buses
17/08/2011 - It's here at last: HOCHBAHN parked its first of a total of seven new fuel cell-hybrid buses on Hamburg's Fish Market for the official handover ceremony. On board were the City's First Mayor, Olaf Scholz, the Ministry of Transport's Undersecretary of State, Rainer Bomba, the Head of Daimler Buses & CEO EvoBus GmbH, Hartmut Schick, and the Chairman of HOCHBAHN's Management Board, Günter Elste.
HOCHBAHN's Management Board Chairman, Günter Elste, stated: "The forecast is that, in twenty to twenty-five years, mineral oil – and therefore diesel – will be too scarce and expensive to propel buses. HOCHBAHN therefore aims to run only emission-free, electric propelled buses in the decades to come. Taking this new generation of buses into service is therefore an important step along the road to electro-mobility.
